CHARACTER EDUCATION
Character Education is EQUALLY important in Third Grade as academics. The purpose of Whiteside’s Character Education program is to instill in our students the skills necessary for leading healthy, successful lives as adults. It is my goal to create a classroom environment, which allows for maximum learning experiences. The more responsibility they demonstrate, the more fun they will have. The rules are simple.
The 4 B’s
1. BE SAFE 2. BE CARING
3. BE RESPECTFUL 4. BE RESPONSIBLE
If a student chooses to break a rule, I will make you aware by writing in his/her agenda. I also keep records of each child’s daily behavior. Breaking these rules could result in loss of recess, note in the agenda, loss of attending a special event, phone call to parents, conference, or principal intervention.
I have very high expectations of my students and their behavior. Third Graders spend nearly 10 months practicing making independent choices and being responsible for the outcomes. I expect them to demonstrate the ability to think about “MYSELF” first:
Mistakes are permitted here.
Your behavior equals a choice.
Speak up for yourself.
Every problem is an opportunity.
Level of risk is your choice.
Finding solutions is the focus.
Whiteside's mission is to help all learners reach their
MAXIMUM POTENTIAL
so that they may become
tomorrow's leaders.
